T'Bilisi Riots

Today is independence day here in Georgia and all week there have been protesters outside parliament which is at the top of the road where I'm staying, even last night when I passed there at about 9pm on my way back to the hostel there was a big crowd there but it was quiet. I woke up this morning to see hundreds of riot police on standby for the parade and saw this report on events last night: Police clash with protesters in Georgia

  1. Frightening stuff. Not quite the type of holiday mood I was thinking of! It must be unnerving to be next to the Parliament building just now. Look after yourself.

  2. It's not that bad, the protests were due to end yesterday and the only reason police were called in was because they overstayed their jurisdiction. The people who were killed got run over by the car of a leader who they were supporting who was trying to get away from parliament!

  4. It seems people are getting restless with a few leaders these days... hmmm, I'm starting to wonder now Peter, things seem to happen when you're around don't they!

Well I mean these riots, the Japanese quake... :-)
